Visit of Ms. Aradhana Patnaik, IAS, Joint Secretary (Regulations) to Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission Ghaziabad on 12th April, 2023

Ms. Aradhana Patnaik, IAS, Joint Secretary (Regulations), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India visited Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) on 12th April, 2023. Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, Drugs Controller General India (DCGI) & Secretary-cum-Scientific Director (I/C), IPC welcomed joint Secretary. Dr Kiran Karlapu, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare was also present on this occasion.
Dr Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, explained about various activities and achievements of IPC since its creation. He informed that Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) is published by the IPC on behalf of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India in fulfilment of the requirements of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the Rules framed there under. He told that total 3152 monographs (Active pharmaceutical Ingredients, Formulations, etc) are available in IP- 2022. He mentioned that currently 665 IP Reference Substances and 501 impurity standards are available with IPC and explained their importance as a fingerprint criterion for ensuring identity, quality and strength of pharmaceutical drugs in India as per IP monographs. Secretary cum Scientific Director, IPC also briefed about Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), Materiovigilance Programme of India (MvPI) and collaboration of IPC with various national & international institutions.
Ms. Aradhana Patnaik, Joint Secretary (Regulations) discussed about IP and IP Reference Substance, its development and distribution network all over the country. She had a tour of all divisions of IPC and discussion with IPC scientists. The visit ended with plantation by Ms. Aradhana Patnaik, Joint Secretary (Regulations) followed by group photograph with IPC scientists
