The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), Ghaziabad, successfully organized the “Scientific Conclave on Weights, pH and IP 2026 Updates” on April 21, 2026, in association with Mettler Toledo.
The seminar focused on the recent revisions to the Pharmacopoeial Standards and General Chapters on Weights & Balances and pH in the Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) 2026, undertaken as part of ongoing harmonization efforts. The programme aimed to create awareness regarding these updates, explain their impact on laboratory operations and auditing processes, and guide participants on the necessary documentation required for compliance.
The event commenced with welcome remarks by Dr. Gaurav Pratap Singh Jadaun, Senior Principal Scientific Officer, IPC, followed by introductory remarks by Dr. V. Kalaiselvan, Secretary-cum-Scientific Director, IPC, and an insightful session by Dr. Shruti Rastogi, Scientific Assistant, IPC, on recent updates in the General Chapters of Indian Pharmacopoeia 2026. Subsequent technical sessions by Dr. Klaus Fritsch, Compliance Manager, Mettler Toledo, and Dr. Delina Joseph, Senior Manager, IMSG, Mettler Toledo, covered balance chapter updates and their implications for laboratory processes, pH chapter revisions, calibration procedures, measurement uncertainty, safety factors, and the significance of before and after calibration practices.
Practical demonstrations on calibration certificates, 5-point calibration, system requirements for the pharmaceutical industry, and Good Electrochemistry Practice provided participants with valuable hands-on understanding. The programme also included discussions on documentation requirements and instruments requiring revision in IP chapters.
The conclave witnessed active participation from industry professionals, laboratory personnel, and regulatory stakeholders, serving as an important platform for technical exchange and capacity building. The seminar reinforced IPC’s commitment to aligning IP standards with global benchmarks, strengthening quality assurance systems, and facilitating the wider acceptance of IP standards internationally.
